THE TRUTH ABOUT FARMING

DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT'S ON YOUR PLATE?
Food labels like “free-range,” “organic,” and “natural” might sound reassuring - but the reality behind most commercial farming is far from what we imagine.
At Fundy Bluff Farms, we believe knowledge is nourishment. Here’s what’s really happening behind those grocery store doors, and how we’re choosing a different way.

MYTH VS. TRUTH
INDUSTRIAL FARMING VS. NATURE'S WAY
GRAIN FED VS. GRASS FED BEEF
INDUSTRIAL
Cattle are confined in feedlots (CAFOs), eating a grain-based diet that causes digestive issues, stress, and antibiotic use .
NATURE'S WAY
Our grass-finished beef graze freely, rotated daily across lush Nova Scotia pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, or synthetic feeds - just fresh air and forage, the way nature intended .

FACTORY PENS VS. PASTURE FREE PIGS
INDUSTRIAL
Pigs spend life indoors in crowded piggeries, unable to root or roam. Painful procedures like tail docking and castration are often done without anesthesia .
NATURE'S WAY
Our pigs live in woodlands and pasture, free to dig, wallow, and express their full “pigness.” No hormones, vaccines, or confinement - just real pigs, raised with care .

GRAIN FED VS. GRASS FED BEEF

FACTORY PENS VS. PASTURE FREE PIGS
BROILERS IN BOXES VS. PASTURE RAISED CHICKENS
INDUSTRIAL
Broiler chickens live only 30 days before slaughter, often crippled from unnatural growth and ammonia-burned by their own waste .
NATURE'S WAY
Our pasture-raised chickens are moved to fresh grass daily using the Joel Salatin method - protected from predators but free to forage and thrive .

LEARNING FROM
THE LUNATIC FARMER
Our philosophy draws deeply from Joel Salatin, known as The Lunatic Farmer. His work redefined what’s possible when farming returns to nature’s rhythm - where animals move daily, the soil is rebuilt, and communities are fed with integrity.
Salatin reminds us: “You are what you eat—but do you know what your food ate?”
